Julia Bonilla, the ex-partner of Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert, announced she’s expecting her second child. She shared a poignant message on Instagram that touched on themes of betrayal and heartbreak following their public split in May.
In her post, Bonilla reflected on her struggles, subtly indicating she is raising their son, Romeo, as a single mother. “You wanted. You were chosen. You were going to do that,” she wrote, accompanying the message with a photo of herself in a bikini cradling her baby bump. “I could have turned away from love after everything, but I chose to believe that life can flourish even after suffering.”
Bonilla didn’t mention Gobert directly in her post. However, she emphasized the relentless bond of motherhood: “No matter how challenging things get, or how much others try to bring me down, I will always be here to protect you.”
The couple’s separation was widely reported, with sources saying Gobert had instructed Bonilla to leave their shared home during the NBA playoffs. Reports indicated that he wanted them to remain in Minnesota to discuss custody arrangements.
After the breakup, Bonilla returned to France and, despite her pregnancy, things appear to be complicated between them. Gobert, who acknowledged the split, dismissed rumors and described the situation as “painful” without diving into specifics.
Bonilla expressed her heartbreak in social media, revealing that it was one of her most challenging times. “I thought of Rudy as my one true love. I sacrificed so much for him, and now, it’s hard to reconcile that with what has happened.”
