Tensions flared between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk on Thursday, escalating to discussions about a potential new political party and even the possibility of canceling SpaceX’s contract.
On Friday, Blaze Media co-founder Glenn Beck spoke with Russell Vought, director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, to discuss the ongoing disputes, as well as the president’s “big, beautiful bill.”
“But Glenn, we’re moving forward,” Vought remarked. “Elon is an important ally and patriot through all of this, and we’re doing the necessary work.”
Beck didn’t beat around the bush, asking if a resolution was around the corner—not regarding legislation but between two of the wealthiest individuals and the highest-ranking leaders in the country. Vought gave a somewhat cryptic hint in response.
Before the conversation kicked off, Beck noted, “Yesterday was quite the wild ride. Honestly, it’s hard to watch. Kids don’t want to see their parents fighting, especially when both are so crucial.”
Beck also took to social media to express that the rift between Trump and Musk was “sad to see,” wishing that these two influential figures could settle their differences and that America would witness their united efforts towards victory.
Later, Beck asked Vought how things were shaping up: “Was yesterday tough? Did the president reach out? Are they going to reconnect?”
Vought replied, “Well, I believe the president made a comment to the press this morning.”
“He seemed disappointed about some of Elon’s remarks,” Vought added. “But Glenn, we’re making progress. Elon remains a vital ally and patriot, and we have important work ahead.”
He underscored that priorities have managed to move legislation forward and are working to improve situations wherever possible.
Although Vought’s comments were diplomatic, he was rather noncommittal when asked if a call with Musk was planned for later, stating, “Do you mean a man who lost his heart?” in response to whether Trump had reached out.
The president hinted he was particularly eager to discuss the matter.
Meanwhile, Musk seemed open to mending fences. Hedge fund manager Bill Ackman suggested that “for the sake of our great nation,” Trump and Musk should reconcile, to which Musk replied, “We are far stronger together.” Ackman acknowledged this sentiment, stating, “You’re not wrong.”
