Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff Conclude Peace Negotiations in Kyiv and Moscow

Reports indicate that U.S. special envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff wrapped up their talks in Kyiv and Moscow. Their discussions come as the Trump administration aims to put an end to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. They engaged with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin, focusing on establishing a potential framework for peace.

In a surprising twist, just hours after the envoys’ visit, Kyiv faced an attack from Russia involving ballistic missiles. According to officials, this assault resulted in significant damage to residential areas in the city, urging citizens to stay indoors for safety.

Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, noted that some individuals were trapped in one of the affected residential buildings. The missile strikes caused fires across multiple locations in the city, including an educational institution.

The air strikes come right after Witkoff and Kushner met with key Ukrainian officials on Sunday. They had met with President Putin a day earlier in Moscow, trying to advance the peace talks initiated earlier this year. Following their discussions, Witkoff revealed that Ukraine and Russia had reached a temporary ceasefire agreement, although it ended on the day of the missile attacks.

Kushner later tweeted about the trip, highlighting the constructive progress made and the scheduling of further trilateral talks, emphasizing Trump’s commitment to halting the violence and achieving a substantial peace.

On the same day as the Kyiv missile strikes, the governor of Saratov in Russia stated that a Ukrainian drone attack injured several individuals and damaged civilian infrastructure.

In other recent developments, Ukrainian drones were reported to have targeted three Russian oil refineries. Ukrainian officials have expressed that multiple casualties were reported following the Russian attacks throughout the previous day, underscoring the ongoing volatility in the region.
