Rutgers students with American flag counter anti-Israel protest with ‘USA!’ chants

Anti-Israel demonstrators on the Rutgers University campus were countered by a large group of patriotic students waving American flags and chanting “USA!” on Thursday.

Video Thursday afternoon showed a large gathering of two chant groups at Voorhees Mall at the University of New Brunswick in New Jersey.

Anti-Israel groups chanted “Free, free Palestine!” while patriotic groups could be heard chanting “USA! USA! USA!”

At some point late in the demonstration, several members of anti-Israel groups began instructing demonstrators to form a human chain in a circle in front of students shouting in support of America.

It’s unclear what she said afterward, but the protesters were likely in the early stages of clearing their encampment after negotiations reportedly took place with Rutgers administrators.

Before they could break the human chain, the chorus of patriotic students surrounding them grew louder and louder, eventually turning into the national anthem.

Some students could be seen with their hands on their hearts as they sang, and at least one student was waving an American flag. When they finished singing, the “USA!” chants resumed.
