Samurai sword-wielding man arrested in Washington state Walmart after screaming threats, police say

A man armed with a samurai sword was arrested over the weekend after allegedly yelling and threatening to hurt people inside a Walmart store in Washington, D.C., authorities said.

According to Vancouver Police, police responded to a report of Ravi Saxena, 43, walking through traffic with a sword in the 400 block of SE 192 Avenue in Vancouver, Washington, shortly after 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police said Saxena was walking toward the Walmart parking lot “screaming and threatening to hurt people.”

Officers arrived shortly after Saxena entered the store. Police immediately evacuated customers from the Walmart store while they searched for the suspect.

According to authorities, Saxena followed police instructions and surrendered without incident. No injuries were reported.

Police seized a Japanese sword and a 5-inch pocket knife from the suspect.

Saxena was arrested on felony charges of harassment, dangerous weapon and displaying a weapon. Further details about the incident were not immediately released.
