San Diego immigration shelters have closed their doors and fired more than 100 employees due to changes in funding and policy under the Trump administration.
San Diego's Jewish Family Services, which has run local immigration shelters for more than six years, has announced that it will close its facilities and fire 115 employees due to “federal funding and policy changes.”
“The Jewish Family Services (JFS) in San Diego is working to meet the evolving needs of our communities in response to recent anticipated federal policy changes,” the organization previously said.
The non-governmental organization (NGO) said it has not received new asylum seeking families or individuals since the CBP One phone app went down on January 20th.
