Santa Monica bar manager dies after one punch from patron he had kicked out, police say

The manager of a popular Santa Monica bar was killed after being punched once by a customer who chased him out of the establishment to avoid a fight, police said.

Santa Monica Police Department Said Officers were called to reports of a fight at Jameson’s Pub just after midnight on Monday night.

Firefighters who arrived on the scene found the man unconscious and not breathing and immediately performed CPR, and the Santa Monica Fire Department also attempted life-saving measures on the bar manager, who was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Police found that the store manager was punched by a man who was being chased out of the store with other customers after a fight outside the store. Investigators believe the man hit his head when he fell.

Lieutenant Erica Akulfi Confirmed There was only one punch and no other violent acts occurred prior to the assault.

Police initially arrested three people in connection to the brawl, but witness statements and surveillance footage led them to identify Leonardo Hector Colpier, 26, of Venice, as the attacker.

Colpier was charged with murder and held on $2 million bail.

The police release He did not release the names of the two other customers involved or say whether they would face charges.

A pub spokesman said in an email statement He spoke to McClatchy News about the incident.

“We are still in shock at the sudden loss of a respected and highly-regarded member of our restaurant family,” the statement read. “He was well-liked by customers and staff alike and his passing is a deep sadness to us all.”

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective Hector Tavera with the Santa Monica Police Department.
