Jimmy Fowlie’s Heartbreaking Update on Missing Sister
Jimmy Fowlie, a writer for “Saturday Night Live,” has shared devastating news with followers regarding his sister, Christina Downer. Months after asking for help in locating her, Fowlie announced on Instagram that authorities have informed his family that she is “no longer alive.”
In his post, dated Wednesday, Fowlie mentioned that the situation had escalated into a homicide investigation. However, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department clarified that the case has not officially been classified as a homicide, as reported by NBC News. Just days before Christmas in 2025, Fowlie had reached out to his followers, expressing concern for his sister’s safety, stating, “[M]y sister has been missing and we are worried that she isn’t safe.”
He noted that Christina might be known by her married name Downer or her maiden name Fowlie, and he urged people to share any information that might help locate her, emphasizing that she was last seen in Los Angeles.
In a heartfelt update, Fowlie revealed the tragic news: “The LAPD has informed our family that Christina is no longer alive, and the case has officially transitioned from a missing person to a homicide investigation.” He expressed that their hopes for her safe return have turned into wishes for justice, saying, “Our prayers for her to be found safely have transformed into prayers for the truth to be revealed and for those responsible to be held accountable.”
According to the LAPD spokesperson, the investigation into Downer’s disappearance is ongoing. They stated that the Robbery-Homicide division is focused on the case and acknowledged that while the circumstances surrounding her disappearance are suspicious, it has not yet been reclassified as a homicide.
Fowlie’s recent post included troubling allegations about the events surrounding his sister’s disappearance. He claimed that weeks before she went missing, her phone and social media accounts were compromised. He alleged that those with her phone used it to create a misleading narrative, suggesting she was “going off the grid” while asking for money.
He didn’t provide further details regarding any potential suspects but insisted on the importance of bringing attention to the situation. “I am sharing this because I believe that whoever is responsible is hoping to erase her in every way possible,” he wrote. “I want to amplify her story in the only way I know how.”
Fowlie concluded with an appeal for anyone with information to come forward. “The best way you could support me in this moment is to share this post and to talk about her story,” he added, mentioning his plan to step back from social media due to the emotional toll this has taken on him.
