LeBron James has apparently played an unexpected role in sparking a romance between Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner and rapper Ice Spice, according to TMZ.
Gardner appeared on an episode of The Shop in April 2024, which featured James as a host.
Fast forward to a year later, Ice Spice recently shared a photo of the pair looking cozy in front of a bathroom mirror, suggesting they’ve made things Instagram official.
Gardner mentioned to TMZ that he wasn’t being very chatty when they first met in Los Angeles, though he confirmed he and Ice Spice are on good terms and revealed a bit about their dynamic. “We’re just having a good time,” he said. “She’s from New York, I play in New York. She’s really talented at what she does.”
Prior to Ice Spice’s Instagram post, the couple had been seen together several times. Gardner previously shared a picture in early April featuring him beside a New York City vehicle, hinting at their connection.
They were also spotted together during a Knicks playoff game in May, where they received enthusiastic cheers from the crowd as they enjoyed the match.
At 24, Gardner is gearing up for the 2025 season, entering the final year of his rookie contract. He’s currently attending the Jets’ mandatory mini-camp, and there’s talk about a potential contract extension.
“I just wanted to show my teammates and coaches how much I care about this,” Gardner explained to reporters on June 12. He’s made quite the impression, earning two All-Pro selections in his first two NFL seasons and winning NFL Rookie of the Year, along with securing Pro Bowl spots. However, he missed out on the Pro Bowl last year.
