Toledo Public Schools Board Members Criticize Erica Kirk

Recently, members of the Toledo Public Schools board took to social media to criticize Erica Kirk, the widow of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

In a post shared by conservative activist Robbie Starbuck, Sheena Marie Burns drew a comparison between Erica Kirk and her own spouse in a dystopian context, referencing the series Handmaid’s Tale. Burns stated, “It’s a story about Y’all Love Handmaid, but I missed the point. My wife was a gatekeeper, not a victim. They promoted abuse. They held the system together.”

Barnes described herself on her Facebook page as “a proud black queer queen who is the mother of three beautiful royalty and advocates of the shit community.” She later posted a screenshot revealing a message associated with Starbuck that read, “So I don’t think freedom of speech is the case for anyone.”

In his initial post, Starbuck encouraged people to contact the Toledo Public Education Board President regarding the matter, stating, “This isn’t lined up for someone in public education. Please email Toledo Public Education Board President: bvasquez@tps.org.”

Charlie Kirk, who was tragically shot at a lecture event at Utah Valley University, has garnered widespread mourning as a champion for free speech. The suspected shooter has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson.

In a heartfelt address, Erica Kirk expressed her grief on Friday, saying, “The villains in charge of assassinating her husband don’t know what they did. They killed Charlie because they preached the message of patriotism, faith, and God’s merciful love.” She emphasized her late husband’s profound faith in God, remarking, “Two days ago, my husband, Charlie, went to see the Savior and God. Charlie always wanted to be remembered for courage and faith when he was gone. Now and forever, he stands by his Savior and wears the glorious crown of a martyr.”
