Sen. Kennedy Questions Schumer’s Leadership in Government Shutdown

On FNC’s “Ingraham’s Angle,” Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) expressed skepticism about whether Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) was truly leading the Democrats, particularly regarding the shutdown of the government.

Republicans from Louisiana suggest that radical elements within the party have taken control over Democratic strategies.

“Senator, this isn’t a joke,” said host Joey Jones. “But when someone like Bernie brings up the Civil War, I just can’t see how that compares to Watergate. I mean, does he really believe this situation is worse than the Civil War?”

“Let me clarify what’s happening,” Kennedy responded. “The country was just minding its own business until our budget expired late Tuesday night. Republicans are willing to extend the budget for another seven weeks while we work things out. But Democrats have pushed back, as if we’re fools.”

He went on, “Senator Schumer certainly has his share of blame. It seems the Senate Democrats are set on shutting down the government, and he has a responsibility in that. However, he isn’t the one truly pulling the strings. In reality, Senator Schumer is attempting to manage the socialists and other lawmakers within his party, which seems quite chaotic.”
