Scott Jennings Holds Ana Kasparian Accountable for Calling ICE 'Gestapo' in Intense Discussion

Republican Strategist Critiques Ana Kasparian on ICE Debate

Scott Jennings, a Republican strategist, took aim at Ana Kasparian, co-host of “Young Turks,” during a discussion that aired on Thursday.

Reports indicate that ICE is offering bonuses of up to $50,000 for new recruits. This was highlighted in a conversation about actor Dean Cain’s announcement regarding his declaration. Jennings pointed out the different ways Republicans and Democrats view ICE during the “CNN Newsnight” panel. He said, “Republicans are now actively promoting people to join ICE, while Democrats seem to be dishing out bonuses to those who oppose it. But what about the people who are actually doing their jobs? How do they think that encourages violence?”

Jennings expressed concern, stating, “It feels like Republicans are embracing ICE while Democrats are supporting actions that could lead to violence against them. It’s quite alarming.” He noted that assaults on ICE agents have increased by 1000% in 2024, citing data from the Department of Homeland Security.

He continued, “There are so many stories out there about ICE agents being labeled as the Gestapo by Democrats. Does that actually help the situation?” His comments prompted a response from Kasparian, who was dismissive. Jennings pressed on, referencing an incident involving Kasparian’s rental truck that had been used for a certain purpose, questioning if she would accept that kind of violence.

Kasperian countered, “You wouldn’t want taxpayer money funding that, right?” Jennings replied, “But what about the enforcement of federal law?”

In Texas, there have been reports of incidents involving ICE, including a fire at a Border Guard facility that resulted in multiple charges of attempted murder connected to an attack in Alvarado. Jennings posed a question to Kasparian, asking rhetorically whether those who are violent towards ICE agents should face arrests. “I mean, if people are throwing rocks and attacking them, shouldn’t that be addressed?”

“They keep calling these agents the Gestapo,” he reiterated. Resistance toward ICE operations has been seen, with some officials, like a judge in Milwaukee, reportedly helping undocumented immigrants evade ICE. In Nashville, Mayor Freddie O’Connell disclosed the identity of an ICE agent involved in immigration enforcement.

Reports from New York City included an accusation against a Democratic mayoral candidate for obstructing an ICE operation. Additionally, a New Jersey Democrat was charged with assaulting an ICE agent after a confrontation at a facility in Newark. In California, there was an incident where an ICE agent was shot while attempting to serve a warrant at a marijuana farm, prompting the FBI to offer a reward for information related to the case.
