SCOTUS Presidential Immunity Ruling Could Cover Wisconsin Judge

On ABC’s “this week” Sunday, former governor Chris Christie (R-NJ) proposed that the president ruled that he was unimmunized from the prosecution when he used the core forces of the office.

Host Martha Radazs said, “Let’s talk about what happened in Wisconsin and its courtrooms. You’re a former prosecutor, did you bring about the charges against that judge?”

Christie said, “Well, Martha, this is one of those situations where everyone is acting badly. So first of all, I don’t know what this judge was thinking in terms of helping this judge try to avoid arrest warrants from federal authorities. The complaint is perfectly consistent with the affidavit filed, because after leaving the court, this man ends in a public courtroom near a public elevator and we can see this case whether he is there to help with the arrest.

“There’s a problem because she’s a judge. The judge has determined she’s immune from criminal prosecution, but the Trump immunity decision we discussed last year has determined that whether it’s very relevant here or not could be very relevant,” said Sarah Isger, a former spokesman for the Juctice Department.

Christie said, “Trump’s decision to immunize this administration gives the president such a widespread immunity, so it may be given here and taken away as the judge’s lawyers are confident that the judge will argue that he is entitled to a similar immunity.”
