Exciting News: Season 3 Teaser of The Secret Life of a Mormon Wife Released!
The teaser for Season 3 of the Hulu show has finally arrived, and it’s making waves!
During the reunion special for Season 2, host Nick Viall surprised fans by announcing the return of the series for a third season.
Jen Affleck, who stepped away from filming midway through Season 2 to prioritize her mental health, is back with the group. Yet, she still expresses some uncertainty about her faith.
In the trailer, she shares, “You have to act a certain way to gain others’ love and acceptance—and God’s too.” Meanwhile, her husband, Zach Affleck, who is expecting their third child, reassures her of his unwavering support regardless of her feelings.
On another note, Layla Taylor, the only Black member of the cast, addresses online accusations regarding her “whitewashing” and conformity to typical Utah beauty standards. She reflects, “There’s a lot of stuff about churches that just doesn’t resonate with me anymore. I really wanted to fit in so desperately,” highlighting her internal struggle.
Then there’s Taylor Frankie Paul, who seems determined to voice her opinions more boldly this season. Instead of focusing solely on her daughter, she confronts her own mother regarding her past relationship with Dakota Mortensen. In Season 2, Paul ended things with Mortensen after discovering his dishonesty about his interactions with other women early in their relationship. This situation intensified, particularly when their families tried to intervene.
Meanwhile, tension surrounds Marciano’s brunette, who stirred up drama at the end of Season 2 with Demi Engeman while questioning her relationship with Jesse Ngatikaura. In a moment that feels unresolved, Ngatikaura confronted Marciano’s brunette, asking, “Why did you lie to Layla about us?” But there’s a twist when the brunette claims to feel “influenced” by the unfolding drama. Was Engeman’s supposed ploy to divert attention from her own questionable actions true? Maybe only a lie detector test could solve that mystery. Interestingly, the trailer hints at a lie detector moment between Ngatikaura and the brunette aimed at clearing their names.
Apart from that intriguing conflict, Whitney Leavitt’s “feeling like Britney in 2007” t-shirt caught me off guard. It’s funny—Paul found it amusing too. Despite returning to the group at the end of Season 2, Leavitt is seemingly befriending Engeman, a figure that the rest of the women struggle to accept. Her unapologetic attitude has, in a strange way, become oddly captivating within the reality TV realm.
As Paul puts it, “We need to come together. They can be wild.” She believes that “Momtok is like family. We can tackle anything.”
While Hulu hasn’t shared a release date for Season 3 yet, fans are certainly hopeful for it to arrive soon!
