The Secret Service shot a man during an armed conflict near the White House on Sunday, the agency announced.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight on the west side of the executive office building in Eisenhower, about a block from the White House.
In a statement, the Secret Service said on Saturday that police shared information about a suicide person traveling from Indiana to Washington, D.C.

Around midnight, members of the Secret Service encountered a man's parked car near 17th Avenue and F Street in NW, seeing someone who fitted the description nearby.
As the officer approached him, the man wielded a firearm around, leading to an armed conflict in which a secret service agent shot him.

He was rushing to a nearby hospital, but his condition is unknown, a Secret Service spokesperson said.
No injuries have been reported by Secret Service personnel.

According to the Secret Service, metropolitan police departments will lead the investigation into the shooting as they are the main agency responsible for Force use cases within the Columbia area.
