Security footage reveals Secret Service shooting at Trump's supposed assailant

Security Incident at White House Correspondents’ Dinner

Surveillance footage captured a tense moment at the Washington Hilton ballroom when Cole Allen, a 31-year-old suspect, attempted to breach security while seemingly targeting President Donald Trump. This occurred during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which was attended by numerous high-profile officials, including the President and Vice President.

In the footage, Secret Service agents are seen reacting as Allen charged towards them. Reports indicate that he managed to damage one of the two magnetometers at the entrance before being shot at by an agent. Federal prosecutors noted in a filing that while five shots were fired, none struck Allen.

Images from the scene highlight the chaos, with agents responding quickly. TSA personnel, who often assist the Secret Service at such events, were also present, and one image shows a plainclothes security guard readying his weapon.

According to the most recent court documents, Allen approached the stairs leading to the ballroom while holding a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun. He allegedly fired a shot in that direction before collapsing to the ground and being arrested. One Secret Service agent sustained minor injuries from being struck by their own bulletproof vest during the commotion.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro addressed speculation regarding the injuries to the agent, affirming, “The agent did not shoot himself.” Allen is facing serious charges, including attempted assassination of the President, along with additional firearm-related offenses. He was arraigned earlier this week.

Further court details are expected as Allen prepares for a detention hearing, where prosecutors will advocate for pretrial confinement. Legal representation for Allen has been a point of interest as the case unfolds.
