Security guard for Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer quits amid misconduct investigation

The security guard for Labor Secretary Lori Chavez Delemer has resigned during an internal investigation over claims of an “inappropriate” relationship between them, as confirmed by The Post.

Brian Sloan stepped down last week after being placed on administrative leave while the Office of Inspector General looks into allegations regarding an affair with a married secretary, according to various sources.

Chavez Delemer reportedly misused his “position” by engaging in “inappropriate” relationships within the workplace, a story first reported by The Post in January, which cited sources and a complaint filed with the Department of Labor’s Office of Inspector General.

The complaint claims that the labor secretary had a personal interaction with his alleged mistress during a trip to Las Vegas last year.

Responses from the Labor Department, as well as from Chavez Delemer’s attorney and Sloan, have not been immediately provided to The Post.

Sloan’s resignation was initially reported by Politico on Thursday night, shortly after two of Chavez Delemer’s top aides also resigned amid separate accusations of staff misconduct and tax fraud.

Chavez Delemer’s chief of staff, Jihoon Han, and deputy, Rebecca Wright, resigned earlier this month following pressure from the White House.

Additionally, another staffer, Melissa Roby, who is the director of advancement, has also been absent.

Roby reportedly spent large amounts on a limousine during a company trip to North Dakota and submitted claims for excessive expenses related to travel.

The original complaint against Han and Wright accused them of inappropriately reimbursing their personal travel expenses through official channels. Roby has a second residence in Arizona as well as ties to Las Vegas.

Further allegations against Han and Wright indicate they may have used their power to influence junior staff, contributing to a “toxic” work environment characterized by abusive behavior and misuse of departmental resources.

Investigators have also been informed that the troubled secretary took staff members to a strip club in Oregon during an official visit in April 2025.

The White House has come to Chavez Delemer’s defense, with press secretary Caroline Leavitt stating on January 15 that President Trump believes she is performing well in her role at the Department of Labor on behalf of American workers.
