James “The Ragin’ Cajun” Carville is once again expressing his frustration—this time targeting “left-wing idiots” following a recent surge of socialist primary wins.
On Friday, the former strategist for Bill Clinton joined other Republicans in critiquing the Democratic Socialist candidate in the New York and Colorado primaries, voicing his disdain during an appearance on “Presidential History Classroom” in Washington, D.C.

“These people are really foolish. I’m not sure what else to say,” Carville stated on Politicon’s YouTube channel. “We now have Democrats in revolt, but what’s their plan? Is it to take on the Republican Party? No!”
He added, “Their idea seems to be to defeat the Democrats as if they were part of the issue.”
Carville, known for his sharp observations and strategic insights, has become more outspoken on social media in recent times.
Notably, he played a significant role in Bill Clinton’s successful strategy that attracted support from disillusioned voters during the Reagan era, helping to elect the Arkansas governor in 1992.
Later efforts weren’t as fruitful, though the candidates faced challenges that specialists couldn’t mend.

Carville also advised then-Senator John Kerry in his unsuccessful bid against George W. Bush in 2004, as well as Hillary Clinton, who lost to Donald Trump in 2016.
This past Friday, he seemed to express disappointment that the moderate approach he championed by rebranding Bill Clinton as the “new Democrat” was largely overlooked.
Carville criticized Senator Bernie Sanders, labeling him an “insurrectionist” who he believes played a key role in “the most unfortunate event of this century”—Hillary Clinton’s defeat in 2016.
Throughout the lead-up to the 2016 Democratic primary, Sanders garnered substantial support from younger voters across the nation.
“How did Trump come to power? I’ll tell you—it’s because Bernie Sanders is why Donald Trump became president. Do you hear me?” he said, emphasizing his point.

Carville contended that “fools on the left” this election cycle are similarly risking Democrats’ chances for gaining control of Congress.
However, he also disagreed with the notion that the party itself is to blame for disillusioned voters who are leaning further left, pointing to figures like New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani and the socialist candidates he supported.
Instead, he denounced democratic socialists, cautioning voters against succumbing to “the lures of false prophets” as illustrated by Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who posited that real change doesn’t require “party elites.”
Carville insisted that the rise of socialism “is not the fault of either side,” stating emphatically.
“One party expanded health care, correct?” he remarked. “Another party dismantled it. One side balanced budgets and fostered economic growth. The other side wrecked it. One party established a nuclear deal with Iran, and the other side ruined it.”
His tone echoed the wisdom of the advisor who once helped Bill Clinton navigate a political landscape that bridged conservative and traditional Democratic values.
“I’m a proud liberal,” Carville acknowledged on Friday. “But I’m not a leftist. I don’t believe we should tear down everything. I think government should assist people, cooperate with them, help them access education, and provide retirement security.”
