Disgraced Former Senate Candidate Graham Platner Has Agitated Exchange with Reporter

Graham Platner, a former U.S. Senate candidate from Maine whose aspirations ended due to allegations of rape and sexual misconduct, had a tense interaction with a reporter while he was working as an oysterman.

In a video shared recently, Platner confronted a reporter from the New York Post asking, “Who the f–k are you weirdos?” This took place just a week before the midterm elections.

Platner had just paddled to shore in his kayak when approached by the Post.

When asked how he’s been spending his time since his departure from the race, Platner bluntly responded, “What the f–k does it look like I’m up to? I’m being an oyster farmer.” This remark came as his replacement, state Senator Troy Jackson, competes with incumbent Senator Susan Collins for the Senate seat.

He noted, “It goes the way it always goes, friend,” when inquired about his oystering life since he withdrew from the race in July.

Continuing, he said, “People from away have no idea what it is we do for a living.” However, Platner didn’t comment on his predictions for the upcoming November 3 election, instead opting to hop into his truck and drive off.

Platner’s campaign had initially revolved around a working-class image. Yet, it was later revealed that he came from a privileged background and attended one of New England’s top prep schools. It appeared that his oyster farming efforts were not as substantial as they seemed; his only customer was his mother’s restaurant.

Since stepping back from the political scene, Platner has largely kept to himself following serious accusations, including sexting women other than his wife, being violent with ex-partners, and a rape allegation. He has acknowledged the sexting but denies the other claims.

Platner also faced criticism for a tattoo he had of a Nazi Death’s Head symbol, which he later covered up, claiming he did so while intoxicated with fellow Marines, stating he wasn’t aware of its significance at the time.

Locals in Sullivan have noted that Platner seems to be faring better since leaving his political ambitions behind. Josh Winer, the owner of Dunbar Store, even mentioned that he now appears healthier. “He looks a whole lot more healthy than he did,” Winer remarked. “Now it’s just him again. He gets a sandwich on his own. We talk about oysters. It’s back to normal,” he added, noting that Platner has been a longtime customer.

However, not everyone is welcoming him back. A local fruit seller was less kind, advising him to “just drop it,” and commented, “He’s not a favorite around here. Especially with the women.”
