Sen. Kennedy Commends Sen. Fetterman’s Independent Stance

Sen. John Kennedy (R-Louisiana) recently expressed admiration for Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania), labeling him a “maverick.” Kennedy emphasized that, for the Democratic Party, credibility outweighs simply adhering to party lines in Washington.

“He plays outside the pocket. He doesn’t care who gets mad at him,” Kennedy remarked on “The Will Cain Show” this past Monday. It seems Fetterman, Kennedy suggests, maintains an unbothered attitude towards criticism. “If you asked him how he sleeps at night knowing some people dislike him, he’d probably say something like, ‘Turn on the fan.’ He just doesn’t seem to care, which I honestly find refreshing.”

Kennedy also referred to Fetterman as a “total banger,” acknowledging that despite their frequent policy disagreements, he appreciates Fetterman’s straightforwardness.

Fetterman’s Independent Approach

As Pennsylvania’s senior senator, Fetterman has gained a reputation for taking an independent stance, sometimes parting ways with his party on issues such as support for Israel and a firmer approach to illegal immigration. He notably voted in favor of measures to reopen the government when needed.

Kennedy’s praise for Fetterman follows a compliment from last weekend on “The Sunday Briefing,” where he highlighted Fetterman’s unique style with a lighthearted comment: “He dresses like Adam Sandler, so he looks cool.”

The senator’s comments come as Washington navigates a partial government shutdown, which has now extended into its third day due to a funding deadlock in the House. A vote is scheduled for Tuesday, which may halt the shutdown and restore funding to essential federal agencies.
