Sen. Marco Rubio Says It Would Be An ‘Honor’ To Be Offered Spot As Trump’s Potential Running Mate

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said he would be “honored” to be offered the position of former President Donald Trump’s vice president.

On Thursday, Rubio (R-Fla.) said he was “honored” to be elected but “I haven’t talked to anyone in the Trump world about it.”

According to a report by NBC News, Mr. Rubio is among more than a dozen people on Mr. Trump’s list of nominees.

“If you look at Mr. Trump’s movements, it’s clear that Mr. Rubio is involved,” a veteran Florida Republican operative said Wednesday. “He checks just about every box if you can pass that they’re both from Florida, so it makes sense.”

Although Mr. Rubio claims he has not discussed the position with President Trump, a presidential adviser said: NBC News On Wednesday, the 2024 Republican campaign announced that it is not directly contacting any candidates in general.

“Anyone who is offered the opportunity to serve our country as vice president should consider it an honor,” Rubio said. “I mean, that’s why I’m in public service.”

He later reiterated that he had not spoken to President Trump or any of the former president’s aides.

“We will let you know if the situation changes,” he said.

Sen. Tim Scott (RS.C.), former neurosurgeon and former U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson, and Rep. Elise Stefanik (RN.Y.) are also potential vice presidential candidates. .
