Bomb Threat at Senator Slotkin’s Home
Senator Elissa Slotkin’s residence in Michigan received a bomb threat just days after she urged military personnel in a video to resist “illegal” orders. A representative from the Michigan Democratic Party confirmed on Friday evening that the Michigan State Police (MSP) responded to the alarming situation.
The spokesperson stated, “The senator was not at home during the incident. MSP conducted a thorough search and determined that there was no immediate danger.” They added, “Senator Slotkin is very thankful for the prompt and professional actions taken by both Oakland County and the Michigan State Police. The U.S. Capitol Police will continue to look into this matter and, hopefully, bring those responsible to justice.”
Political Reactions
Slotkin’s video, shared on Tuesday, sparked backlash from some Republicans and even members of the Trump administration. Alongside Senator Slotkin, others in the video included Mark Kelly, Chris Deluzio from Pennsylvania, and several others, all showcasing their military or intelligence backgrounds.
In recent weeks, Slotkin and a group of Democratic senators have been pushing for legislation aimed at restricting President Trump’s power to deploy the National Guard or take military action against drug-related terrorism without Congressional approval.
The video, titled “Don’t Give Up the Ship,” frames the message as a call for military members to “follow our laws” and “reject illegal orders.” Trump responded critically, claiming, “This is called sedition at the highest level. Every traitor to our country must be arrested and brought to justice.” He expressed strong emotions on social media, suggesting that “we can’t ignore their words” and posed a dramatic assertion that “we don’t have a country anymore!”
Later, Trump amplified his rhetoric, stating that such actions “deserve the death penalty.”
