Tragic Death of Oklahoma Senate Candidate Barry Christian

Barry Christian, a Republican candidate for the Oklahoma State Senate, was found deceased in his vehicle, just two days after being reported missing. He was 54 years old.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) confirmed on Thursday that Christian’s body had been discovered. According to their statement, the Sayre Police Department had received a report on April 29 concerning Christian, who was last seen on April 28 in Sayre, Oklahoma.

They detailed that on April 30, around 9:45 a.m., Beckham County Deputies located Christian’s vehicle in the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area, situated south of Eric, Oklahoma.

Christian was one of three individuals vying for a position in the Republican primary for State Senate District 38.

OSBI agents processed the scene and found his body inside the car. The chief medical examiner is currently working to ascertain the cause and manner of death.

Christian’s daughter, Brooklyn, expressed her family’s turmoil: “Please pray for our family and friends. Our world is turned upside down right now.” She emphasized that not all details surrounding her father’s death are known and urged respect for his legacy.

Brooklyn also thanked everyone involved in the search for her father, noting the widespread shock at his passing. She reflected on his dedication, saying her father “only wanted to provide for and protect his family.” Her sentiment resonates deeply; he lived for his children and loved them immensely.

OSBI stated that the investigation remains ongoing and is urging anyone with information to reach out to their tip line. The Beckham County Sheriff’s Office, Elk City Fire Department, and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation contributed to the investigation efforts.
