Michigan Senator Deletes Controversial Social Media Posts

Michigan’s Democratic Senator Mallory McMorrow found herself in the spotlight after deleting thousands of posts from her social media accounts. This came as scrutiny regarding her comments about “middle Americans” intensified nationally.

McMorrow was recently linked in a virtual event at Emerson College with former Wayne County Health Director Abdul El-Sayed. Reports noted that around 6,000 posts had disappeared from her account, drawing attention from outlets like the New York Post. It appears this action was taken after a post from April 2025 reignited conversations about her previous remarks.

Back in December 2016, shortly after Donald Trump’s election victory, McMorrow tweeted about a dream of a divided United States, mentioning coastal regions along with parts of Canada and Mexico. This seemed to hint at her contentious views.

According to the New York Post, McMorrow didn’t hold back on critiquing Michigan itself, showing support for Notre Dame over the University of Michigan. Another now-deleted post reflected her disdain for snow while using the hashtag #NYCtoLA, suggesting a preference for warmer locales.

Her rise to national recognition came in 2022 when she delivered a passionate speech on the Michigan Senate floor. In that address, she took aim at Republicans opposing child sex reassignment and abortion rights—a moment that resonated widely and drew praise from prominent figures like Democratic strategist James Carville.

“I am a straight, white, Christian, married suburban mother… I am the greatest threat to your empty, hateful agenda,” McMorrow asserted during her speech, emphasizing the importance of standing against conservative viewpoints on such issues.

On a related note, former Republican Representative Mike Rogers is likely to run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by retiring Democratic Senator Gary Peters.
