Kentucky Ethics Committee Launches Investigation into Daniel Cameron
The Kentucky Executive Ethics Committee has initiated an investigation regarding U.S. Senate candidate Daniel Cameron. This investigation stems from allegations suggesting that during his tenure as Kentucky Attorney General, he sought campaign contributions from a company that was under investigation by his office back in July 2023.
“What I’m experiencing feels reminiscent of what they’ve done to President Trump: the blatant misuse of government to target political adversaries,” Cameron stated in a recent exclusive interview. “This is, I believe, the first significant case of Democratic maneuvering in the upcoming cycle, and it’s hard to ignore the timing. I’m currently leading within the GOP by over 20 points, which makes it quite clear that the left is worried.”
Kentucky Senate Race Heats Up
In a report from July 2023, an attorney for Edgewater Recovery Centers claimed they received a call from Cameron, followed by outreach from a campaign organizer in relation to a fundraiser. At that time, Cameron’s office was actively investigating the Edgewater Recovery Center, and reportedly, several executives from Edgewater donated $7,600 to his campaign.
Sources close to Edgewater informed Fox News Digital that the planned fundraising efforts quickly fell through, and campaign funds were promptly returned once the details surrounding the deal and communications surfaced. Cameron’s campaign clarified that he distanced himself from the investigation concerning Edgewater upon realizing the conflict. He canceled the event and arranged for refunds to the executives involved.
2028 Presidential Speculations Begin
In 2023, Democratic Governor Andy Beshear called for an investigation, and his administration is now progressing with this inquiry two years later. Earlier this week, Fox News Digital disclosed that Beshear might even be a potential contender for the presidency in the 2028 elections.
Attempts to reach Beshear’s office for comments were unsuccessful.
Republican Candidates Gear Up
The unfolding investigation might have significant implications for Cameron as he campaigns for the U.S. Senate seat previously held by Mitch McConnell. Currently, the only other declared Republican candidate is Representative Andy Barr.
Fox News Digital also sought comments from the Kentucky Executive Division Ethics Committee but did not receive any responses.
