Department of Justice Investigates Voter Fraud in Michigan

The U.S. Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, Harmeet Dhillon, is discussing a Department of Justice inquiry into voter fraud occurring in Wayne County, Michigan. This investigation points to instances of voter fraud, as well as violations related to the Help America Vote Act.

In Michigan, a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate has reportedly removed thousands of posts from social media, including ones that negatively portrayed the Central American community—the very group he hopes to represent.

Mallory McMorrow, who mentioned in her 2025 autobiography that she relocated from the Los Angeles area to Michigan in 2014, once shared ambitions of elite coastal regions separating from Central America. Archived posts captured her expressing regret for leaving California, stating there were moments she “missed California even more” after relocating.

Interestingly, despite claiming to be a Michigan resident, McMorrow in 2016 referred to Congressman Ted Lieu as her representative and talked about her vote during California’s Democratic primary that year. She pointed out voting in person in L.A. in November 2014 but criticized others on social media who claimed to vote in states they had moved from in 2024.

Overall, McMorrow deleted about 6,000 social media posts, according to the company. Following an initial report by the New York Post, it was noted that these deletions occurred in 2025, hinting at posts reflecting aspirations for high-flying nations distancing themselves from their shores.

Besides apparent criticisms of the very area she aims to serve, McMorrow’s now-erased tweets covered numerous topics, including controversial remarks that compared President Trump’s leadership to that of Nazi Germany.

Hannah Lindow, McMorrow’s campaign spokesperson, indicated that the social media comments revealed were largely made in jest. One included her gripe about Michigan’s harsh winters, while another showcased her aspiration for a car-less future in response to discussions surrounding rideshare drivers.

“These types of posts are typical for anyone,” Lindow remarked. “Complaining about the weather? That’s just normal.” She emphasized McMorrow’s record of fighting for Michiganders, highlighting initiatives for wage increases and anti-hunger measures.

Michigan Democratic Party: “Do It Yourself”

Lindow continued to assert that McMorrow’s public service over the years demonstrates her deep care for Michigan. While some of the posts seemed misguided, including one where she expressed longing for California, Lindow maintained that they didn’t define her commitment to her new home.

This scrutiny has ignited criticism from conservatives online aimed at both McMorrow and Rep. Haley Stevens, another Democratic contender for the Senate. Stevens expressed pride over her roots, indicating her concern over candidates who disparage Michigan while pursuing political office.

Meanwhile, McMorrow’s Democratic primary opponent, Abdul El-Sayed, shared a light-hearted social media post seemingly addressing the contentious discussions surrounding McMorrow’s now-deleted comments.

The fallout highlighted contrasts between McMorrow’s earlier sentiments and her current position, generating further debate about her candidacy amidst a politically charged climate in Michigan. McMorrow’s past comments regarding the U.S. and her criticism of both President Trump and historical figures such as Hitler surfaced during this scrutiny, leaving many questioning her authenticity in representing the state she now claims to love.
