Former Representative Mike Rogers from Michigan expressed his concerns regarding the ongoing situation in Minnesota during an interview. He accused state officials of making disparaging remarks about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and of “encouraging bad behavior.”
In his discussion, Rogers emphasized that the language being used by far-left politicians is prompting individuals to act aggressively against law enforcement. He noted, “Well, when elected officials suggest wrongdoing… labeling law enforcement as ‘Gestapo’ can make people feel justified in taking aggressive actions.”
Rogers added, “None of this is good, and it’s entirely illegal for political leaders to behave this way.”
The Biden administration has condemned a series of harsh attacks launched by various Democratic leaders against ICE agents recently.
For instance, Minnesota’s Governor Tim Walz described ICE as a “threat” to the public and claimed his state is at “war” with federal agents, even likening them to a “modern Gestapo.”
California’s Governor Gavin Newsom referred to ICE as “secret police” and encouraged a public “revolt.” Similarly, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker alleged that the agency aims to turn the country into “Nazi Germany.”
Rogers questioned Walz’s motives, suggesting that the governor’s aggressive stance stems from being implicated in a major fraud case. “He’d rather paint himself as a victim than confront this massive scandal,” Rogers theorized.
Despite his criticisms, Rogers acknowledged that Democrats have been effective in their messaging, especially regarding fear campaigns against ICE. He remarked, “What you have to give the Democrats is that they’re disciplined with their message. They repeat their points relentlessly, regardless of the truth.”
In the meantime, ICE has been actively making arrests in Minnesota, targeting individuals with serious criminal histories. This highlights ongoing tensions and differing perspectives on immigration enforcement in the state.
