Senate Democrats pressured Biden to establish a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine

A group of 19 Democratic senators sent a letter to President Biden urging the administration to: Establishing a “bold public framework” Aiming for a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine.

In a letter led by Sen. Tom Carper (D-Delaware), the lawmakers argue that Biden needs to:Rekindle US leadership on diplomatic solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. ”
“We ask you to publicly outline a path for America to achieve. Recognize the non-military state of Palestine,” they wrote.
The letter comes amid growing support from Democrats. Concerns about civilian casualties in the Gaza war They report that children are suffering from hunger and malnutrition because the fighting has cut off humanitarian supplies.
“Given the severity of the current crisis,this moment requires decisive American leadership that must move beyond facilitation,” the senators wrote.
The letter was sent days after Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York, the highest-ranking Jewish lawmaker in American history, delivered a landmark speech on the Senate floor. Reaffirms support for the two-state solution To achieve peace between Israel and Palestine.
Schumer also called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “Obstacles to Peace” He appealed to Israelis to hold new elections.
The senators who signed the letter to Biden said the Biden administration should come up with a peace framework that includes a series of provisions. Government and institutional reforms for the Palestinian Authority.
They particularly want to reform the Palestinian Authority’s education, justice and security systems and combat corruption and incitement to violence in the Palestinian territories.
They are the Palestinian Authority that governs the West Bank and Gaza. We must reaffirm our understanding of the state of Israel. and adopt a mandate for Palestinian government ministers and senior officials to embrace the two-state principle and renounce Hamas and all terrorist activities.
The senators also called on Biden:Guiding and promoting the Israeli government to limit violence.” attacks on Palestinians by Jewish settlers in the West Bank;
They wrote: I was particularly disappointed in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.“We refuse to commit to a path to a Palestinian state,” he said, urging the administration to pressure the Israeli government to stop demolishing homes and displacing Palestinians from their properties in the West Bank.
