Investigation into Clinton’s Email Servers Requested by Senate and House Leaders

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, along with House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Rick Crawford, has asked FBI Director Kash Patel to conduct a more thorough investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of private email servers during her time as Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013.

Recently, Grassley (R-Iowa) and Crawford (R-Ark.) sent a letter to Patel, highlighting their concerns. They mentioned that since 2018, they have had access to certain information managed by the FBI in Northern Virginia.

“The details in the declassified OIG appendix explain why there is growing distrust in the FBI regarding previous leadership. There was a failure to conduct fair law enforcement and information-gathering efforts,” they noted in their letter.

The lawmakers criticized the former FBI leadership, particularly James Comey, for what they called a shocking failure to review essential evidence—even after acknowledging in writing that such information was crucial for a comprehensive investigation.

They also suggested that the FBI may have “misused other foreign intelligence information.” In their letter, they stressed the urgency of properly evaluating the hidden material, which they claimed includes information related to former President Barack Obama’s email practices and diagrams of the U.S. Government Classification Network.

This letter follows Grassley’s push to obtain an appendix from a June 2018 report, which deals with how the FBI and Justice Department managed the investigation, often referred to as the “Clinton Annex.”

The term “appendix” suggests additional documentation or sections that provide further information possibly due to sensitivity or classification. Grassley’s objective appears to be to get this appendix declassified and made public.

Despite creating internal guidelines to foster further analysis, it seems senior officials—including Comey, Andrew McCabe, and Peter Strzok—failed to verify and evaluate certain key data effectively.

Grassley tweeted about this ongoing issue, pointing out that this “Thumb Drive,” containing unreviewed information about Clinton’s email scandal along with classified information, has been untouched at the FBI since 2018.
