Senate Designates October 14th as ‘The Day of National Memory for Charlie Kirk’

The Senate has unanimously passed a new law that establishes October 14th as “The Day of National Memory for Charlie Kirk,” coinciding with his birthday. This legislation was introduced by GOP Senator Rick Scott of Florida and supported by 20 other senators.

This decision came just a week after Kirk was tragically assassinated while engaging with students at Utah Valley University. It seems this move is part of a broader effort to commemorate his contributions and legacy.

Scott mentioned, “Charlie was a magnetic leader, a beloved father and husband, a friend and inspiration for many. His losses are devastating, and I always cherish my friendship with him. Charlie loved our country and its founding principles, believing strongly in his faith and the power of discussion.”

He added that “Charlie’s life was guided by his faith and the conviction that engaging in debate is vital for the betterment of our nation. He truly believed in God, the American dream, family values, and the principles our country stands for.”

Scott continued, stating, “As the founder and executive director of Turning Point USA, Kirk and his team were instrumental in establishing thousands of chapters throughout the nation. They aimed to educate students about freedom, the free market, and the importance of limited government.”

“As we mourn this significant loss, let’s unite as a community and pray for his family and our country. Let’s honor Charlie by striving to improve our nation with the ideas he championed,” Scott concluded.

Florida Republican Representative Jimmy Patronis is also backing a companion resolution for Kirk’s family. This initiative signals a concerted effort to recognize Kirk’s impact and encourage continued discussions around the principles he advocated during his life.

Scott shared his sentiments on Twitter, reinforcing that Kirk was not just a patriot but also a dedicated husband, father, and friend who inspired many. His passing has undoubtedly left a void, and the efforts to honor his legacy seem to reflect that sentiment.
