On Wednesday evening, Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno shared a shocking image of a woman who suffered severe injuries during a mob attack in Cincinnati over the weekend. The post highlighted the aftermath of the incident, which caught the attention of many across social media.
“This is Holly,” Moreno stated, noting that her story had been viewed millions of times by Thursday afternoon. He explained that she had just wanted to enjoy an evening out with friends, but instead found herself the victim of violence.
A harrowing picture showed Holly’s bruised face; her right eye was significantly swollen and her lips cut. Additional images revealed further bruising on her neck and face. Moreno confirmed that Holly consented to the release of these pictures.
Following the attack, many expressed sympathy and encouragement towards Holly, who appreciated the well-wishes from concerned citizens nationwide.
In footage from the incident, Holly appeared to be wearing a blue dress and attempted to intervene on behalf of a man during the altercation but was struck from behind. Other videos surfaced later, showing the chaos of the mob and Holly’s subsequent fall.
Vivek Ramaswamy, a gubernatorial candidate in Ohio, also shared a close-up of Holly in distress after hitting the ground. He noted that they spoke on Monday, and she expressed gratitude for the support she’s received.
However, the incident sparked controversy, particularly due to comments from Cincinnati Council member Victoria Parks, who received backlash for her remark, “They begged for that beatdown!” Many found her remarks insensitive and out of touch with the situation’s seriousness.
Critics, including media personalities like Jason Whitlock, condemned Parks’s comments, emphasizing the need for responsibility instead of inciting further animosity.
Various videos uploaded online depicted additional assaults during the incident, illustrating the chaotic nature of the attack. Observers noted that while one man in a light shirt may have initiated contact with another, the subsequent violence was unwarranted and disproportionate.
