Shane & Shane Launch SBC Worship

Christian music duo Shane & Shane have introduced SBC Worship, a new initiative designed to equip and unite worship leaders within the Southern Baptist Conference. This was unveiled at the recent annual SBC meeting in Dallas and aims to provide tailored training, resources, and events specifically for SBC churches. There’s a free community membership available, but additional premium features and training can be accessed for a fee.

To guide the development of the platform, an advisory committee has been formed, consisting of over 30 leaders from various denominations, according to reports.

“There is more collaboration than ever at SBC,” said Robbie Seay, Executive Vice President of Leader Development and Content for Worship Initiative. “Seminaries, universities, state leaders, and churches are partnering together to support local worship leaders in an unprecedented way.”

“We celebrate the diversity of the church,” he continued, adding that SBC Worship isn’t restricted to any specific musical style or aesthetic—encompassing everything from choirs and orchestras to solo acoustic groups.

“This is about the development and support of worship leaders,” Seay noted.

The initiative was founded by Shane Bernard and Shane Everett in response to a recognized gap in quality training for musically gifted worship leaders. Since its launch in 2014, the platform has offered over 1,000 resources, including tutorials, prayer guides, biblical studies, and training in theology.

“Our passion is to care for those at the forefront of ministry,” Bernard expressed. “We aim to support them so they can proceed with faith in their roles and excel.”

The duo also led a special moment known as “Selah’s moment” during last month’s SBC conference, which took place amid significant theological discussions and divisions within the denomination.

“It’s pretty nuts,” Bernard remarked about the experience. “To hear the powerful roars of thousands of pastors and their wives singing praises to Jesus—it was incredible.”
