The Deion Sanders family has been known to hype each other up over the years, and now Shedeur has reciprocated after Colorado’s season opener, which ended in a 27-20 loss to Georgia Tech.
“They’ll get things done,” tweeted Browns backup quarterback Shedeur Sanders. “They have great head coaches.”
However, there were questions about Coach Prime’s clock management during the game, particularly after a home match on Friday night.
Colorado finished the game with two timeouts still available after receiving the ball at 1:07 from their own 25 while trailing by seven points.
They were unable to convert a last-minute Hail Mary attempt as time ran out.
Interestingly, Dion defended his approach, stating that his players inadvertently kept running out of bounds, which didn’t necessitate any timeouts.
“I think we’ve been out of range a few times so we didn’t have to take them,” Sanders explained. “We were on the sidelines for both, and I think that played a role. After the first play, we caught the ball for nine yards. When we got the first down, we stopped just short.”
“I don’t want to go home with timeouts left; they’re useless to me. But you have to be strategic. Burning timeouts just to burn them doesn’t make sense.”
The situation didn’t play out as intended, resulting in some online criticism towards Sanders.
Meanwhile, his son remains optimistic and vocal about the future.
Shedeur will be starting as the Browns’ third-string quarterback when they face the Bengals next Sunday.
