Pima County Sheriff’s Office Gains Spotlight Amid Search for Nancy Guthrie
TUCSON, Ariz. – The Pima County Sheriff’s Office is drawing increased attention with the upcoming release of a new television show focused on the department, coinciding with the ongoing search for Nancy Guthrie.
This limited series, titled “Desert Law,” consists of ten episodes and is set to premiere on A&E in early January. It promises an insightful look into the daily operations of one of America’s largest sheriff’s departments, particularly the experiences of the sheriffs working in Arizona.
Concerning Robbery Theory Surrounding Guthrie’s Disappearance
Interestingly, there is a theory emerging regarding a robbery linked to Nancy Guthrie’s case, described by sources as “horrifyingly unusual.”
The first and second seasons of this series were filmed during the spring and summer of 2025, capturing the actions of various units, including patrol officers and night detectives, as they responded to incidents throughout the county.
Although Sheriff Chris Nanos doesn’t appear on the show, he collaborated with the production team to ensure filming aligned with the deputies’ activities, as noted by a report.
Recent Episode Focuses on Gun Laws
The latest episode, titled “Weapons Found,” aired on Wednesday and involved filmmakers following lawmakers in areas noted for some of the most lenient gun laws in the country. Included in this episode were videos showing deputies handling a conflict at a supermarket that escalated to the drawing of a firearm, as well as an armed home invasion.
So far, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office and A&E have not responded to inquiries regarding this new series.
Search for Nancy Guthrie Intensifies
As the investigation continues, the sheriff’s office is working closely with the FBI to locate 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, who is the mother of NBC’s “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie.
She vanished from her Tucson residence in the early hours of February 1, and officials are treating the case as a possible kidnapping.
In a heartfelt plea shared on social media, Savannah expressed her hope and belief in her mother’s safe return. “It’s never too late to do the right thing,” she said to her mom’s suspected abductors. She emphasized the importance of inherent human goodness, urging anyone with information about her mother’s whereabouts to come forward.
