Carjacking Suspect’s Rampage Captured on Video in Culver City

A new video from Southern California reveals the alarming actions of a carjacking suspect who crashed into people at various gas stations and other locations throughout Culver City, culminating in a high-speed police pursuit.

On June 16, Juan Luis Estrada, 45, from Perris, allegedly drove into a McDonald’s drive-thru while evading law enforcement, hitting eight pedestrians in the process before police managed to apprehend him.

Surveillance footage from a gas station illustrates the suspect colliding head-on with a person walking on the sidewalk as he sped by. Another segment captures him approaching a gas pump and crashing directly into someone, leaving the victim on the ground.

Additionally, another video depicted the suspect fleeing the gas station with a motorcyclist after the collision. There’s also footage showing Estrada running into the path of a 19-year-old pedestrian while escaping from police.

Authorities suspect Estrada engaged in carjackings at knifepoint in downtown Los Angeles before his spree, which included several hit-and-run incidents.

“When officers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle, the suspect fled and recklessly endangered the public,” police stated. Shortly before 7 p.m., he was involved in a hit-and-run crash that left four pedestrians injured. While officers were responding to this incident, he also punched another individual before fleeing again.

As the chase progressed, Estrada hit two juveniles on an electric bike and continued striking pedestrians. It’s reported he deliberately targeted numerous individuals, aged between 15 and 70, until the rampage concluded when he crashed into a car at a drive-thru in downtown Los Angeles.

Following the crash, Estrada attempted to escape on foot but was taken into custody. His bail has been set at $10.25 million.

He faces serious charges: 10 counts of attempted murder, three counts of hit-and-run, one count of car burglary, and assault on a security guard leading to serious bodily injury, among others.

Surprisingly, the hit-and-run victim suffered only non-life-threatening injuries, while one police officer sustained minor injuries during the arrest.

The investigation continues, with detectives diligently reviewing evidence and seeking to identify further individuals involved in this incident.
