Shooting Incident at Minneapolis Catholic Schools
An active shooter situation unfolded early Wednesday at Catholic schools and churches in Minneapolis.
As reported by Fox 9, emergency responders and law enforcement quickly converged on Notice Church shortly after 8:30 AM.
A source within law enforcement confirmed that the shooter is deceased.
Details regarding injuries have not been clarified yet.
“I was informed about the shooting at Annunciation Catholic School, and I will continue to provide updates as I receive more information,” Minnesota Governor Tim Walz shared in a post on X.
“I pray for the children and teachers whose first week of school has been marred by this terrible act of violence.”
Minneapolis police have not released additional information at this time.
City officials reported that the situation was “contained” and there is currently “no active threat to the community.”
“I’m keeping an eye on the reports of horrific violence in South Minneapolis,” Mayor Jacob Frey stated on X.
“I’m in communication with Police Chief O’Hara, and our emergency response team is on standby. We’ll share more information as soon as we can. It’s important to give our officers the space they need to handle the situation.”
The school adjacent to the church serves students from kindergarten through eighth grade, having just resumed classes on Monday.
Local and state police, along with federal alcohol, tobacco, and firearm authorities, were present at the schools. A controlled area was established nearby, but people were advised to evacuate “to assist the victims.”
