Shooting outside Arkansas grocery store leaves 3 dead, multiple wounded, including 2 law enforcement officers

Three people were killed and eight others were injured in a shooting that occurred around 11:30 a.m. Friday outside a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas, Arkansas State Police Public Safety Chief Mike Hager said at a press conference Friday afternoon.

Two police officers were among those injured, but their injuries were not life-threatening, Heger said.

The gunman was taken into custody after a shootout with state police.

“Multiple agencies were here trying to find out what was going on. I saw officers running around the pharmacy, which is right next to the Mad Butcher,” the employee said.

“It was pretty busy around here between 11.30am and noon,” he added, saying he saw ambulances landing at the local hospital’s helipad.
