Silence of liberal news outlets on Biden's 'enemies list' is striking

Media Response to Operation Arctic Frost

Earlier this year, the liberal media faced backlash after the Trump administration revealed that various investigations related to Russian collusion were, in fact, unfounded accusations engineered by the previous Obama administration. It’s been a decade of fervent reporting on these theories, which now appear to be based on fabrications.

Recent disclosures regarding Operation Arctic Frost, particularly concerning the FBI’s surveillance of Republican lawmakers and broad targeting of conservatives, have reignited media scrutiny. Yet, the reactions seem notably one-sided.

For instance, the New York Times expressed concern over personnel changes at the Justice Department and how the Trump administration allegedly manipulated federal surveillance and law enforcement resources against perceived foes.

In contrast, with notable exemptions, there were articles focusing on Republican claims regarding the clandestine collection of phone records by Special Counsel Jack Smith. Some reports emphasized the denials from Smith’s legal team, steering clear of critical inquiries related to Arctic Frost and the recent documents showcasing the targeted actions by the FBI.

Other liberal outlets, including The Washington Post and CBS News, have similarly downplayed or ignored vital documents unveiled this week by Senator Chuck Grassley and the House Judiciary Committee, which detail the extensive ramifications of Arctic Frost.

For their part, CNN’s coverage has reportedly been limited to downplaying allegations about Smith’s actions, suggesting that Republicans are exaggerating the evidence, claiming it doesn’t align with traditional definitions of “espionage.” They noted that lawmakers’ communications are sometimes surveilled, but there’s no evidence this was politically motivated.

In a broader context, platforms like MSNBC and Politico seemed initially invested in this narrative but leaned towards undermining survey results and portraying Smith as a victim, framing Arctic Frost as a neutral investigation.

Trump ally Roger Stone pointed out the hypocrisy, asking why the media remains silent on the Arctic Frost list, which he views as an unprecedented misuse of the criminal justice system. In a similar vein, Tom Bevan of RealClearPolitics expressed surprise at the lack of coverage in major outlets, contending they no longer function as news sources.

Republican Senator Ron Johnson characterized the newly revealed documents as akin to an “enemies list” for the Biden administration, reminiscent of the politically charged atmosphere in Nixon’s era but allegedly worse in scope and intent.
