Bad Bunny to Perform at Super Bowl LX Halftime Show
Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny is set to take the stage for this year’s Super Bowl LX halftime show on February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. This appearance marks him as the first Latino and Spanish-speaking artist to headline solo at this major event.
Reports suggest that Bad Bunny plans to honor Puerto Rican queer icons and drag culture during his performance, possibly even wearing a dress as a tribute. This choice has been described as a bold celebration of the LGBTQ+ community on a grand platform.
According to a stylist working with Bad Bunny, “He loves controversy. He lives to push envelopes. He is 100 percent going to wear a dress. A political thunderbolt disguised as couture.”
Another source hinted at the element of surprise, noting, “He’s not playing it safe. The NFL has no idea what’s coming. Zero.”
A separate insider claimed, “Let them complain. The dress is already being sewn.”
Despite potential backlash, it seems the pop star is more motivated than ever. Recent reports suggest he wants to challenge norms during the performance. Interestingly, Bad Bunny has opted not to tour in the U.S. previously due to concerns about his fans being detained by ICE agents, and he primarily sings in Spanish.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the situation, stating, “I never heard of him, I don’t know who he is, I don’t know why they’re doing it, it’s like crazy. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”
In October, while hosting “Saturday Night Live,” Bad Bunny addressed the criticism head-on.
“You might not know this but I’m doing the Super Bowl halftime show and I’m very happy and I think everyone is happy about it — even Fox News,” he said.
A satirical video appeared online that edited clips of various Fox News anchors to make it seem like they were endorsing Bad Bunny as their favorite musician and suggesting he should be the next president.
Reacting to the video, Bad Bunny expressed his excitement, saying, “Thank you! Wow, thank you. But really, I am very excited to be doing the Super Bowl and I know that people all around the world who love my music are also happy.”
He then shifted to Spanish for a moment, concluding with, “If you did not understand what I just said … you have four months to learn!”
During his Spanish monologue, Bad Bunny once again addressed his critics while showing appreciation for his supporters.
“Especially all of the Latinos and Latinas in the world here in the United States who have worked to open doors,” he noted. “It’s more than a win for myself; it’s a win for all of us. Our footprints and our contribution in this country, no one will ever be able to take that away or erase it.”
The halftime show, officially known as the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show, represents a significant moment for Latin music on a global stage. Additionally, punk rock band Green Day is set to open the game, celebrating the Super Bowl’s 60th anniversary, adding even more variety to the event’s music lineup.
