R&B singer Mia doesn’t regret her seven years of celibacy — in fact, she encourages it.
The 44-year-old “Way Up by Angela Yee” She admitted on the show that she was at her most “mentally clear” while single.
“My mindset changed just by being patient,” Mia said of her experience. “The focus was no longer on that. The rush to be in a relationship, the rush to get married, the rush to have kids, to procreate, to be something because that’s what we were taught to do. I think there’s so much pressure on women to be able to do that.”

Mia went on to say that self-love was important to her during this time.
“Love is a beautiful thing, and I think the world will always need love, but I think it has to start with yourself,” she said, “and I think it always has to start with yourself and not look to other sources.”

She concluded, “So it was just a recalibration. I think it was necessary because it’s a very spiritual thing. And if you want better results, you have to be very deliberate. That self-responsibility started with shutting off that part of my life.”

One of the reasons Mia has remained single is that she was considered a “sex symbol” early in her career.

“There’s so much that’s said about you, and you absorb it all at a young age,” she says, “and then your sense of beauty becomes completely opposite to who you really are, and then that starts to cross over into your life when you’re dating or posing for photos with other celebrities, and it can get really messy.”
Maia continued, “But I feel like a lot of the things that are sacred to me should be kept private, obviously until I’m solid and I’m ready and our foundations are together. But even then, there are risks. So I don’t really make that part of my life public.”
