Size of Republican House majority to be decided by 9 remaining uncalled races

More than a week after Election Day, the final outcome of the 2024 election is still undetermined, as nine Lok Sabha elections have yet to be called.

Republican Donald Trump will be re-elected as president, giving Republicans a majority in the Senate. Republicans are expected to maintain a majority in the House, but it's unclear what that majority will be until all votes are counted. The current balance of power is 218 seats for Republicans and 208 seats for Democrats.

The current status of the unconvened House of Representatives elections is as follows.

Democratic Party incumbent Congresswoman Mary Sattler Peltola He is running behind Republican entrepreneur Nick Begich in a close race in Alaska's large congressional district.

As of Thursday morning, Begic had 49% of the vote, leading by more than three points to Peltola's 45.9%. The number of votes received was 145,754 to 136,319, for a vote counting rate of approximately 94%.

California

9th Congressional District

Democratic incumbent Josh Harder leads Republican challenger Kevin Lincoln by more than 3 points. The race was not called, but Lincoln conceded to Harder.

“Although the outcome was not what we had hoped for, I am extremely proud of the journey we have shared and the incredible progress we have made together,” Lincoln said in a statement.

“This campaign may be over, but the work continues.”

As of Thursday, Harder's lead had widened to 8,125 votes, with about 86% of the vote in the district.

13th Congressional District

Republican Rep. John Duarte leads former Democratic state Rep. Adam Gray in California's 13th Congressional District, but the closely contested race has not yet been called as of Thursday. .

The vote count was about 74%, with Duarte leading 51.2% to 48.8%. The pair are separated by just under 4,000 votes.

21st Congressional District

As of Thursday morning, incumbent Democratic Rep. Jim Costa led Republican challenger Michael Maher with a 51.6% to 48.4% vote margin.

The vote count rate so far is 81.7%, giving Costa a lead of more than 5,000 votes.

45th Congressional District

As of Thursday morning, incumbent Republican Rep. Michelle Steele led Democratic challenger Derek Tran by several hundred votes. With just over 92% of votes counted, Mr. Steele's lead had shrunk to 349 votes.

1st Congressional District

Incumbent Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks has a lead of less than 1% over challenger Christina Bohannan, with 99% of votes counted. Miller-Meeks' lead is just under 1,000 votes.

maine

2nd Congressional District

As of Thursday morning, Democratic incumbent Jared Golden held a narrow lead over Republican challenger Austin Theriot.

With 98% of votes counted, Golden's lead remains at less than 800 votes.

With 99% of votes counted, Democratic incumbent Marcy Capture leads Republican challenger Derek Melin by less than 1 point. As of Tuesday, Kaptur had received just over 1,000 votes.

Oregon

5th Congressional District

With 93% of votes counted Tuesday, incumbent Republican Rep. Lori Chavez Delemer is trailing Democratic challenger Janelle Bynum by nearly 3 points.

Bynum's lead is just over 10,000 votes. Independent and third-party candidates received approximately 27,500 votes in the constituency.
