A small plane crashed into a neighborhood in Simi Valley on Saturday afternoon, leading to fatalities among those onboard and causing damage to two nearby homes, authorities stated.
Firefighters were quick to respond, and officials cordoned off the area, advising residents to avoid the vicinity.
Smoke was visible from the roof of one of the damaged homes in the Wood Ranch area, which is located about 50 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
The wreckage was found situated between the two homes.
The Ventura County Fire Department confirmed that the residents of both homes were evacuated and reported some injuries.
Both homes sustained structural damage due to the fire, according to officials.
Around 40 firefighters were present at the scene.
As the fire subsided, crews began focusing on overhaul and rescue operations.
Authorities have not provided details regarding the pilots of the single-engine plane, but there are indications the plane may have crashed due to an unknown cause.
