Sneako says Islam will dominate New York City, references Mamdani

Streamer Sparks Controversy in NYC

A streamer with over a million followers ignited a significant backlash after quoting New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani, who allegedly claimed that Muslims would dominate the city.

Suniko, an extremist internet personality, energetically shouted “Allah Akbar!” to a group of Egyptian soccer enthusiasts amidst the sounds of drums and horns, while the Egyptian flag waved and the crowd chanted in unison.

Real name Nicholas Ken de Balintaj, Suniko has developed a reputation as a provocateur on social media, even though he has distanced himself from far-right anti-Semitic rhetoric. Interestingly, he was once an ardent supporter of the political left, backing socialist Senator Bernie Sanders in the 2016 election. Reports suggest that he converted to Islam in 2023.

On Friday night, during a live broadcast after Egypt’s victory over Australia in the World Cup, he may have made one of his most contentious statements yet. With an exaggerated gesture of wiping away tears, he exclaimed, “Oh, no, no. Fu-you!”

Continuing, he declared, “This is the Islamic Republic of New York Istan.” He went on, “Islam will be in every home. Inshallah, the whole world will be Muslim.” His fervent shout, “Welcome to Mandani’s New York. Do you see this city? What does it look like? Inshallah, your city is like this,” drew considerable attention.

“Inshallah” translates to “God’s will” and “Allahu Akbar” means “God is great” in Arabic.

Mamdani is set to be the first Muslim mayor of New York City.

Suniko’s clip quickly gained traction online, racking up millions of views on platforms such as Instagram and X, where his remarks faced heavy criticism.

One particularly sharp reaction came from Rob O’Neill, the former Navy SEAL known for killing Osama bin Laden. He remarked, “When you wake them up at 2 a.m., their voices sound completely different,” referring to the circumstances of Suniko’s comments.

On X, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones called for the streamer’s deportation, a call that caught the attention of X owner Elon Musk, who simply responded “Yes.”

Interestingly, when Musk took control of X, he promised to restore free speech, even as Jones had previously faced a permanent suspension from the platform. Musk had been hesitant about reinstating Jones due to past controversies but ultimately chose to allow his return.

In the aftermath, some users labeled Suniko a “disgusting creature,” while others urged for extreme measures, saying, “If you hate America that much, send this guy to Iran.”

Suniko seemingly responded to the uproar with a cryptic post, saying, “All knees buckle. Every tongue confesses.”

The streamer criticized Musk for aligning himself with Jones on issues of deportation, further escalating the back-and-forth, even saying, “Go back to Africa,” a reference to Musk’s South African origins.

Mamdani’s office has yet to comment on this unfolding issue involving Suniko’s remarks.
