Soap opera star Francisco San Martin died by suicide Jan. 16 at the age of 39.
The actor was most recognized for playing the role of Dario Hernandez on “Days of Our Lives” from 2010 to 2011. The County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner confirmed that San Martin took his own life in his home. Their report noted that the cause of death was ruled as “ligature hanging.” Fans and loved ones stunned by the tragic news have taken to social media to pay tribute to the talented actor.

San Martin also had a starring role in the long-running soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful” in 2017. He played estate manager Mateo in 16 episodes.
The actor also appeared in the 2013 film” Behind the Candelabra” alongside Michael Douglas and Matt Damon. He was also credited for appearing in the 2017 show “Jane the Virgin,” opposite Gina Rodriguez.

San Martin had a passion for the spotlight at a young age. He began by acting in children’s theater productions in Montana and worked as a model in his native Spain when he was a teenager, according to Forbes
He branched out into acting by enrolling in acting lessons when he was in Spain, and he took on some acting roles in various television and film productions. Soon after, he landed a role in the U.S. and continued to see mainstream success as an actor.
“Very, very sad. I am in a bit of shock, as I saw Francisco at my gym most every day,” journalist and writer Michael Fairman wrote on X.

The circumstances surrounding why the actor decided to end his life have not been made public at this time.
