Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has spoken honestly about social media and its algorithms, explaining that the whole thing is rigged.
“This is going to sound a little crazy, but I think the debate about free speech is totally confusing right now. I think the real debate should be about free will. And we’re feeling that right now, because we’ve been programmed,” Dorsey began.
“We’re programmed based on what we say we’re interested in, and we’re told what’s interesting through these discovery mechanisms. And as we engage and interact with this content, the algorithms continue to build more and more of this bias.”
Dorsey added that people have become so reliant on these algorithms that it’s “actually changing and impacting the agency that we have, the free agency that we have.”
Jason Whitlock has been warning about the dangers of the social media matrix for eight years, and we’re pleased to see one of its co-creators come clean.
“What he’s saying is so profound. It’s so important. It’s something that should have been said a long time ago,” Whitlock says. “He’s saying, ‘Hey, we created Frankenstein. We thought we were smarter than anybody. We thought we could use these algorithms and social media platforms to program a better America, a better person.'”
“I’ve been telling you for years,” he continues, “that the reason American culture has made such a dramatic about-face on same-sex marriage, acceptance of gay people, and affirmation of the LGBTQIA+ lifestyle is because social media programmed it to do so.”
This is why Dorsey says free speech is essentially irrelevant.
“What he’s saying is we can amplify the voice we want to hear. If we amplify the narrative, the agenda we want to amplify, then it doesn’t matter whether we’re free to speak or not,” Whitlock said.
“No one will hear you in a crowd, no one will hear you in comparison.”
