Stephen King Faces Backlash Over Trump Comments

On Monday, horror author Stephen King found himself at the center of online criticism after posting a statement regarding President Donald Trump’s personal life, notably claiming that Trump has no children.

King wrote, “Mr. Trump has never had a child. He has been married three times. He has bankrupted several businesses. He has never run a home. He has never been able to make a bed to save himself. He calls the people he works with fools and losers. He has never worked a sweat. He has never served on a local board,” in a post on X.

He followed up with, “[He] I don’t have any life experience.”

Critics quickly reacted, with accounts like Libs on TikTok highlighting the inaccuracy of his claim. “Trump literally has five kids. What is this?” they remarked.

Ryan Gardusky, founder of the 1776 Project PAC, also weighed in, stating, “Well…I’m pretty sure Donald Trump had kids.” Another user, conservative writer Bonchy, humorously suggested, “Is there a 25th Amendment to the Constitution about taking away people’s cell phones?”

King’s comments came in a week where Trump, who is a father of five, is set to address Congress for the 2026 State of the Union.

This isn’t the first time King has stirred controversy on social media. Over the weekend, he made similar derogatory comments about Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, noting her lack of life experiences and mocking her personal history.

In response to this, a user pointed out that King seemed to have copied a post criticizing Ocasio-Cortez and applied it to Trump instead, saying, “You literally plagiarized the entire post…it’s not true and doesn’t mean anything. Why would you plagiarize? I thought you were the author?”

King’s criticism of Trump isn’t new; he has frequently used social media to express his opinions about the President and his policies, calling Trump a “traitor” and drawing parallels between U.S. immigration enforcement and historical regimes.

Despite the pushback, King’s office has not released a statement clarifying his remarks from the recent post.
