Stephen King Sparks Backlash Over Trump Post
On Monday, horror novelist Stephen King stirred controversy online with comments about President Donald Trump’s personal life, notably claiming that the president has no children.
In his post, King stated, “Mr. Trump has never had a child. He has been married three times. He has failed several businesses. He has never run a home. He has never been able to make a bed to save himself. He calls the people he works with fools and losers. He has never worked a sweat. He has never served on a local board.” He went on to say, “[He] I don’t have any life experience.”
Immediately, the post attracted criticism from various social media users, including accounts like Libs on TikTok. One user remarked, “Trump literally has five kids. What is this?” Another, Ryan Gardusky from the 1776 Project PAC, pointed out, “Well…I’m pretty sure Donald Trump had kids.”
Jokingly, conservative writer Bonchy questioned whether there should be a “25th Amendment to the Constitution about taking away people’s cell phones.” Meanwhile, conservative reporter Jerry Dunleavy added, “Donald Trump is famously childless,” poking fun at King’s statement.
King’s remarks came as Trump, a father of five, prepares to deliver the 2026 State of the Union address, where he will report to Congress regarding his administration’s efforts.
This isn’t the first time King has faced backlash for political commentary. He recently made similar comments about Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a prominent progressive from New York. In a post that also criticized Ocasio-Cortez’s personal background, it suggested that she lacked real-life experience.
One critic accused King of plagiarizing, stating, “You literally plagiarized the entire post…it was about AOC…and applied it to Trump…it’s not true and it makes no sense. Why would you plagiarize? I thought you were the author?”
King’s history of political commentary is extensive; since Trump began his second term, King has frequently criticized him and his policies.
A few months ago, King compared U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to Nazi Germany’s Gestapo, expressing strong opinions against Trump’s administration. On another occasion, he declared, “President Trump is destroying the economy with stupid tariffs.”
As of now, King’s office has not issued any comments regarding the latest post.
