Many recipients of Social Security—that’s the U.S. retirement benefits—are set to receive their monthly payments soon.
Today, Wednesday, June 25, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will distribute a round of retirement checks scheduled for this month.
Additionally, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Survivor Benefits will also be sent out today.
Wednesday, June 25: Who will receive the Social Security check today?
Out of roughly 70 million U.S. retirees, SSDI, or survivors, most individuals are paid on one of three Wednesdays each month.
Payment dates for each beneficiary are based on their date of birth.
Today, beneficiaries with birthdays that fall between the 21st and the 31st will receive their checks.
This marks the last Wednesday payment for the SSA in June, following distributions on the 11th and 18th.
June 2025 Wednesday Payment Schedule:
- Wednesday, June 11th: Recipients born from the 1st to the 10th
- Wednesday, June 18th: Recipients born from the 11th to the 20th
- Wednesday, June 25th: Recipients born from the 21st to the 31st
Who receives payments outside of the three Wednesdays?
If you started claiming retirement, SSDI, or survivor benefits before May 1997, you typically are paid on the third of every month, irrespective of your birth date.
Moreover, recipients of Supplementary Security Income (SSI)—available for low-income individuals over 65 or those with disabilities—are generally paid on the first of each month.
If you receive both SSI and SSA retirement, SSDI, or survivor benefits, typically the former gets paid first and the latter on the third.
However, since June started on a Sunday, this month’s SSI check was sent out earlier: payments were made on Friday, May 30th.
Who else is paid in June 2025?
- Friday, May 30: SSI Recipients
- Tuesday, June 3rd: Social Security Recipients since May 1997
For dual recipients: SSI was paid on May 30th, and Social Security was paid on June 3rd.
