Social Security is issuing average payments of $2,000 on Wednesday, July 23: find out who is receiving a check.

Many seniors in the U.S. are anticipating their Social Security retirement benefits this week, with the latest monthly checks set to be distributed.

This Wednesday, July 23rd, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will finalize its payment schedule for this month.

Payments for recipients will also be issued on this date for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Survivor Benefits.

Who will get the Social Security check on Wednesday, July 23rd?

Out of the 69.8 million individuals receiving retirement, SSDI, or survivor benefits across the country, most are paid on one of three Wednesdays each month.

The specific Wednesday assigned to each beneficiary depends on their date of birth, unless you receive survivor benefits or retirement based on a spouse’s work, in which case, your spouse’s birth date is used.

This Wednesday, the SSA will distribute payments to beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st of the month.

Wednesday Payment Schedule – July 2025:

  • Wednesday, July 9th: Beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th
  • Wednesday, July 16th: Beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th
  • Wednesday, July 23rd: Beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st

Who is paid outside the Wednesday schedule?

  • Specific long-term social security beneficiaries

If you began receiving retirement, SSDI, or survivor benefits by May 1997, your payment is typically issued on the third of each month, regardless of your birth date.

Consequently, for these long-term beneficiaries, the payment dates for July 2025 are: Thursday 3rd.

It’s interesting to note that the August check will be distributed a little earlier. Since August 3rd falls on a Sunday, next month’s payment will be on Friday instead.

Supplementary Security Income (SSI) recipients, aimed at low-income individuals over 65 or those with disabilities, receive their checks on the first of every month (unless it happens to be a holiday or weekend).

This means SSI payments for July were sent on Tuesday, the 1st.

  • Double Beneficiary (SSI + Regular Social Security)

Over 2.5 million people in the U.S. receive both SSI and SSA retirement, SSDI, or survivor benefits.

These recipients usually get the SSI payment first every month, followed by the Social Security check on the third. In July, however, they will receive both payments on the first next month due to the Sunday clash.

Other July 2025 Payment Dates

  • Tuesday, July 1st: SSI Beneficiaries
  • Thursday, July 3rd: Regular social security beneficiaries since May 1997

For double beneficiaries: SSI was paid first, followed by regular social security on the third.
