‘Something For Every American’: Speaker Johnson Highlights ‘America First’ Achievements In Trump’s Huge Bill

House Speaker Emphasizes Trump’s Ambitious Bill

House Speaker Mike Johnson has highlighted various elements of President Donald Trump’s extensive legislation, asserting that it upholds Republican promises to prioritize American citizens.

House Republican leaders defended the House-passed version of Trump’s expansive tax and spending bill. They’ve emphasized significant investments in border security, including what they claim to be the largest budget cuts in forced spending in U.S. history. The Senate is currently evaluating this key legislation, as Republicans work swiftly to send budget bills to the White House before the July 4 deadline.

“President Trump and Congressional Republicans are committed to prioritizing Americans,” Johnson shared in a statement. “It’s been quite some time since Congress enacted laws that brought so many crucial victories for the American populace.”

“This bill marks a historic commitment to border security and includes substantial deportation measures, tax incentives for domestic construction, and regulations to stop undocumented individuals from receiving taxpayer benefits,” Johnson continued. “It offers something for everyone, but not a thing for unlawful immigrants or foreign governments that have burdened American taxpayers for so long.”

The House-passed legislation aims to strengthen border security by allocating $150 billion for immigrant enforcement, swiftly advancing the president’s deportation initiatives. The funding is projected to allow the hiring of up to 3,000 new Border Patrol agents and 5,000 additional Field Operations Customs officers, based on information from House Majority Whip Tom Emmer’s office.

Paul Perez, president of the Border Patrol Council, which represents frontline agents, previously noted that the proposed legislation would be a “once-in-a-generation investment” in border protection.

The immigration-related components of this bill are set to bolster the president’s deportation agenda by financing around 10,000 new Immigration Enforcement Agency (ICE) agents and Homeland Security Criminal Investigators.

The bill also includes a provision for a reimbursement of approximately $12 billion to border states that have incurred expenses for their own security measures as former President Joe Biden has not stopped the surge of unlawful immigration into the U.S. Republican members have voiced their support for these reimbursement provisions in various spending packages.

The president’s budget proposal aims to implement policies that restrict taxpayer-funded benefits for undocumented immigrants, including penalties for states that provide Medicaid to non-citizens using state funds.

Additionally, the legislation introduces a 5% fee on remittances sent by non-citizens in the U.S. to individuals abroad. This is estimated by the U.S. Tax Commission to generate over $20 billion in revenue over the next decade, providing support for tax credit initiatives and aiming to deter illegal immigration.

House Republican measures will also impose extra fees on foreigners seeking legal status, potentially increasing revenues by an estimated $77 million during a ten-year span. This includes a $1,000 fee for processing asylum requests and sponsorship fees for immigrant minors reaching as high as $8,500.

The bill encompasses aspects of Trump’s campaign pledges, such as temporary tax cuts, overtime pay for certain workers, and an extension of presidential powers. GOP lawmakers assert that the 2017 tax reforms could prevent a loss of $4.5 trillion across most households.

Senate Republicans are striving to pass the president’s budget proposal by the upcoming weekend, with a second House vote planned before sending the finalized legislation to Trump for his signature.
